Different carbomers have different performance but the same generality. The appearance is loose white, slightly acidic powder, with a pH value of 2.5-3.0 (1% water dispersion). Carbomer can produce high-efficiency thickening at a very low dosage (normal dosage 0.25-0.5%), thereby preparing emulsions, creams, gels, etc. with a wide viscosity range and different rheological properties.

Carbomer is a crosslinked acrylic polymer containing polyalkenyl polyether. Although these resins are weakly acidic and weaker than acetic acid, they can easily react to form salts. The pH value in water varies between 2.8 and 3.2 depending on the resin concentration. The higher the concentration, the higher the carboxyl concentration, so the PH value is lower.
Carbomer polymer emulsifier is better than general emulsifier
1. Effective at a very low concentration of 0.1-0.5%, replacing the traditional surfactant dosage of 3-7%;
2. Not restricted by HLB value and PIT;
3. It can emulsify any liquid oil at room temperature;
4. If the wax is melted during the manufacturing process, the wax can be emulsified;
5. Give full play to the wetting, dispersing and adhesion functions of surfactants to make stable emulsions;
6. It will not re-emulsify when re-wetting, and it is easy to prepare waterproof emulsion without film-forming agent;
7. The high oil phase can be dissolved in water to form (o/w) emulsion;
8. Can be prepared: moisturizing creams, lotions, cleansing products, sunscreen products, non-alcoholic perfumes, fragrance hair conditioners (enhanced gloss, easy to comb), hand sanitizers, low-consistency sprayable emulsions and transparent microemulsions, etc.
