One unit of enzyme activity is equal to the amount of enzyme required to produce 1 micromole of hydrogen peroxide (corresponding to 1/2 micromole of quinone dye) in one minute at 37 degrees.

Application:Biochemical research. Free fatty acids (NEFA) are low in serum, and most of them bind to albumin. NEFA is directly related to oxidative stress, which can lead to diabetes by damaging islet cells and reducing the sensitivity of peripheral tissues to insulin. Concentrations of free fatty acids are elevated by diseases such as diabetes, severe liver disorders, hyperthyroidism, such as insulin resistance/type 2 diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular diseases.

 

Enzymatic detection of free fatty acids has the advantages of fast, simple, high sensitivity, easy automation and large-scale detection. Acetyl coenzyme A, the product of the first step reaction of NEFA enzyme detection kit by ACO oxidation, produces hydrogen peroxide, which provides a substrate for the next color reaction. Therefore, it has a very important role and significance.
