Classification and use of carbomer

Carbopol, also known as carbomer, is an acrylic cross-linked resin obtained by cross-linking acrylic acid with pentaerythritol and the like. It is a very important rheology modifier. Carbopol after neutralization is an excellent gel matrix with thickening and suspension and other important uses. The process is simple and its stability is good. It is widely used in emulsions, creams and gels.

 

Carbomer is a white loose powder; it has a characteristic slight odor; it has hygroscopicity and is a medicinal adjuvant. Carbomer is a high molecular polymer of acrylic acid bonded allyl sucrose or pentaerythritol allyl ether. Calculated on dry goods, containing carboxylic acid group (-COOH) should be 56.0% ~ 68.0%. Carbomer discolors with m-diphenol, and is incompatible with phenol, cationic polymers, strong acids, and high-concentration electrolytes. Carbomer's trade name is carbopol, which is divided into 934, 940, 941, etc. according to viscosity.

 

Carbomer classification:

Carbopol 940: short rheology, high viscosity, high definition clarity, low ion resistance and shear resistance, suitable for gels and creams.

Carbopol 941: long rheology, low viscosity, high-definition clarity, medium ion resistance and shear resistance, suitable for gels and emulsions.

Carbopol 934: cross-linked polyacrylic resin, local delivery system, stable at high viscosity, used in concentrated gels, emulsions, suspensions.

Carbopol 1342: cross-linked polyacrylic resin, local drug delivery system, excellent rheology modifier in the presence of electrolyte, polymerization emulsification.

Carbopol 980: cross-linked polyacrylic resin, topical delivery system, crystal clear gel, water or alcohol solvent.

Carbopol ETD 2020: acrylate/C10-30 alkyl acrylate cross-linked copolymer, long rheology, low viscosity, high-definition clarity, high ionic resistance and shear resistance, suitable for clear gels.

Carbopol AQUA SF-1: liquid, long-rheological, can be formulated into clear formula, has excellent compatibility with various ingredients, acid thickening, can be used in surfactant system.

carbopol Ultrez 21: acrylate/C10-30 alkyl acrylate cross-linked copolymer, short rheology, used in gels, cleaning and cleaning products, high electrolyte products, creams, lotions.

Carbopol Ultrez 20: acrylate/C10-30 alkyl acrylate cross-linked copolymer, long rheology, shampoo, shower gel, cream/lotion, skin care and hair care gel with electrolyte.

Pemulen TR-1: acrylate/C10-30 alkyl acrylate cross-linked copolymer, thickening emulsifier, short rheology, used in creams, lotions.

Pemulen TR-2: acrylate/C10-30 alkyl acrylate cross-linked copolymer, thickening emulsifier, long rheology, used in emulsion.
