Application of EDTA K2
Because EDTA has a protective effect on the cellular components in the blood, does not interfere with the count and size of white blood cells, and can prevent platelet aggregation, it is suitable for general blood tests. Notes for EDTA K2:
1. When EDTA K2 is prepared as anticoagulant for blood collection tubes, medical staff should invert it 5-8 times as soon as possible after blood collection to prevent the formation of tiny blood clots in order to fully anticoagulate. Especially when the blood collection temperature is higher than 25 degrees, the blood must be fully exposed to EDTA K2, otherwise it will easily lead to insufficient coagulation.
2. Since EDTA salt is not an irreversible anticoagulant, the test should be completed within one day after blood collection to avoid problems with the test results.
3. When using EDTA K2 for anticoagulation, it is necessary to control the amount added. Too much content may cause changes in the shape of blood cells.
4. When EDTA K2 has foreign matter, abnormal color and smell, or exceeds the expiration date, it should not be used. If it is accidentally spilled on the skin, rinse it with plenty of water and do not touch it directly with your hands.
