1. pH regulator
TRIS is a weak base, and its pKa is 8.1 at 25°C; according to the buffer theory, the effective buffer range of Tris buffer is between pH 7.0 and 9.2. The pH of the aqueous solution of Tris alkali is about 10.5. Generally, hydrochloric acid is added to adjust the pH to the desired value.

2. Crosslinking accelerator
TRIS is used as a cross-linking accelerator, which can bridge between linear molecules, so that multiple linear molecules are bonded and cross-linked to form a network structure. It is a substance that promotes or regulates the formation of covalent or ionic bonds between polymer molecular chains. Polyols are often used as crosslinking agents in the preparation of coatings.
3. Polyester coating raw materials
Polyols, polyacids, catalysts and antioxidants can react to produce polyester oligomers, which can be used as coating compositions.
4. Phase change core material
When the temperature reaches the phase change temperature, the structure of the polyol phase change material will change from a layered body-centered structure to an isotropic face-centered structure. At the same time, the hydrogen bond between the layers is broken, and the molecules change from a crystalline state. For the amorphous phase transition, the bond energy is released.
The solid-solid phase transition enthalpy of polyol is relatively large, and its size is related to the number of hydroxyl groups contained in each molecule of the polyol. The advantages of TRIS are large phase transition enthalpy, stable performance and long service life.
