1. CAPS is used as a biological buffer: CAPS is mainly used in biochemical diagnostic kits, DNA/RNA extraction kits and PCR diagnostic kits, as a buffer for enzymatic chemistry and HPLC separation of alkaline drugs. CAPS can also support alkaline phosphatase activity and inhibit the growth of Aeromonas at a pH of 10.5. It can also be dissolved in deionized water and adjusted to pH 11.0 for purification of fibronectin.
CAPS needs better purity when used as a biological buffer, and generally requires analytical purity. When used in industry, the purity requirements are relatively low, but different treatments must be made for different applications.
